John Lasseter believes – “Toys are put on this Earth to be played with by a child.”
We believe that a toy can bring true joy to a child. We, being adults enjoy meddling with our toys (gizmos) so much, so you can imagine the extent to which small toys can entertain the tiny tots.
While discussing about the Joy of Giving events it came to our minds, that most of us have some toys at home that we no longer play with. But, out there somewhere there are children who suffer from the lack of it. It then struck us that we can have a toy collection drive wherein we can urge children and parents alike to donate old toys that are no longer in use.
Like the Fist of Rice challenge I conducted this event at Vaishtnavi Royale Apartments. Parents and their children came forward to give away a lot of their toys. By the end of the day we managed to collect almost two big sacks full of toys. YGF Volunteers too made this event a huge hit by donating their toysl.
These toys were then distributed to children of Manovikasa Kendra and Government High School at A.G.S.Layout.
The students of the school were overjoyed to see such a huge collection of toys laid out in front of them. The team of YGF also engaged the children with a good game of cricket.
There is no greater joy than turning a frown upside down.
The Daan Utsav week definitely ended on a high note for all of us.
The entire team at Yuva is looking forward to Daan Utsav 2015. There will be more volunteers, more ideas and we will strive to touch many more lives and hearts.
Also, we need to keep in mind that the act of giving need not be restricted to the “Joy of Giving Week” alone. We can turn every day, every week, every month and every year into giving moments with our small deeds.
